We plan
the trip.
You run it.
What is Run Like a Local?
Run Like a Local is a travel company built for runners who want more than a race. We plan group trips to destination races around the world, handling everything from logistics to local expertise, so you can focus on the experience, not the spreadsheet. Whether you're a run club looking for your next group adventure or a solo runner ready to see the world on your own terms, we make sure the city you're running through becomes just as memorable as the race itself.
Stay for the city."
started it all.
Traveler.
Local.
Alberto studied political science as an undergrad because he wanted to understand how the world worked. Then international affairs in grad school, because he realized it worked differently everywhere. He was running the whole time: through campus, through new countries, through predawn streets in cities he barely knew yet. Running was never just exercise. It was how he arrived somewhere.
After a successful career in business strategy and financial services, he went on to build Your Chief Luxury Officer, designed to curate epic adventures. He learned that what separates a trip from a journey is the feelings it leaves you with before, during and after. And through all of it, he kept joining local run clubs wherever he happened to be. Mexico City. Madrid. Portland. Because that's where you find out what a city is actually like. Not from a guidebook. From the people already running it.
RLAL is where all of it intersects. The academic training in how cultures really work. The luxury travel background that taught him how to make an experience feel right. A life inside running communities on four continents. And one belief he will argue with you about: running is not a solo act. It is the most local thing you can do.
Running has always been one of the best ways to experience a place. You cover more ground, you find the hidden streets, you see the city wake up. But too many runners fly in, race, and fly home without ever really arriving. We believe a destination race is the start of an adventure. And that running is, at its core, a community act. The best runs are always shared.
